I’m really rotten

I’m really rotten. When I am weary, people can catch a whiff of the corpse that is with me. I can try to perfume my corpse and cover it with ornate raiment, but that stench permeates and exudes forth in my futile efforts to conceal my corruption. It might not be evident to all, but it is ever before me, haunting my conscience with the knowledge of all I’ve done wrong and failed to do good. Only the continual washing of grace can cleanse the festering corruption. One day that rotten body of death will no longer be with me. I will be glorified in Heaven with God. I will be finally free from sin in all of its forms. By the obedient loving work of Jesus on the cross and the Holy Spirit in my regeneration in accordance with the Fathers will, I will know what it is to be free from sins corruption for all eternity, an ageless age! O how I love Jesus! Praise His name! The one who saves the hopeless and gives victory over sin!

John Calvin was known as one of the Swiss Reformers, but did you know he wasn’t Swiss?
John Calvin was known as one of the Swiss Reformers, but did you know he wasn’t Swiss? He was actually born in Noyon, France into a Roman Catholic family. It was only after he fled France, for fear of being killed by the Roman Catholic Church, that he ended up in Switzerland. Calvin was 23 or 24 when he God saved him from his sins. He did a bulk of his work from Geneva. Since he did so much in Geneva he is called a Swiss Reformer, and there you have it.
Answering to SBC Today’s Misrepresentation of Calvinism
A Brief Confession Of Faith By John Calvin
A Brief Confession Of Faith By John Calvin:
–I confess that there is one God, in whom we ought to rest, worshipping and serving him, and placing all our hope in him alone. And although he is of one essence, he is nevertheless distinguished into three persons. Wherefore, I detest all heresies condemned by the first Council of Nice, and likewise those of Ephesus and Chalcedon, along with all the errors revived by Servetus and his followers. For I acquiesce in the simple view, that in the one essence of God is the Father, who from eternity begat his own Word, and ever had in himself his own Spirit, and that each of these persons has his own peculiar properties, yet so that the Godhead always remains entire.
–I likewise confess, that God created not only this visible world, (that is, heaven and earth, and whatever is contained in them,)…

Free on PDF: Chance and the Sovereignty of God by Vern Poythress
Earlier this year Crossway published a 368 page book by Dr. Vern Poythress titled Chance and the Sovereignty of God: A God-Centered Approach to Probabiliy and Random Events. I appreciate how Dr. Poythress has made many of his books available to the public for free as a PDF. This new book is now among them!
You can download the PDF by clicking HERE.
The description of the book on the publisher Crossway’s website is as follows:
What if all events—big and small, good and bad—are governed by more than just blind chance? What if they are governed by God?
In this theologically informed and philosophically nuanced introduction to the study of probability and chance, Vern Poythress argues that all events—including the seemingly random or accidental—fall under God’s watchful gaze as part of his eternal plan. Comprehensive in its scope, this book lays the theistic foundation for our scientific…

Nazarene Scholars Continue To Undermine Belief In God’s Word With Evolution’s Lie
“Theistic evolution is a concept being taught in many “evangelical” seminaries and colleges today. It is an idea that comes straight from the pit of hell. To believe that human evolution is true is to say that the Bible contains lies and myths, and that Adam and Eve were allegorical figures. If you teach and promote theistic evolution, you are calling God a liar. There is no middle ground here.”
This is my first article in almost two months, but I’m afraid things are just as bad as it was since my last post; the status quo in most of the evangelical denominations has not changed; and the Nazarene church is still in bad shape, notwithstanding any rosy reports from the General Superintendents or other leadership. Compromise seems to be the underlying principal for these religious leaders for quite some time now. Independent thought and true leadership is a thing…

Thoughts on Facebook Criticism of Tony Miano being physically attacked
In my book Tony Miano is one of the better Open Air Preachers out there. In some ways, he is refreshing to hear especially with his desire to be Biblical and his love for the local church. Apparently a few days ago while he was in Canada he was physically assaulted during one of his open air preaching campaign as the picture indicate (Source of photo).
His facebook page has many comments with some supporting Miano while some were critical of Tony Miano’s method of evangelism. While I think there is room for one to ask how one might engage differently in Tony’s situation, it is hard not to notice a much larger theological problem among some criticizing Miano. I spent a significant amount of time yesterday responding to some of these comments.
Some objections seem to forget who is the victim and who is the one who inflicted harm; my response…
