A Woman’s Work Is Never Done… Baloney!

We’ve all heard the line, “A woman’s work is never done.” Guess what… A man’s work is never done either. It is part of the curse of the fall. Get over yourselves. You are not victims. You are the criminals. We have all broken God’s laws, and deserve death, and hell. Repent of your feelings of being a victim. Realize you are the criminal. While we are at it, get rid of the saying, “Happy wife, happy life.” That is what got us into this curse to begin with. If Adam would have slapped the fruit out of Eve’s hand, yelled, “No!” We wouldn’t be in this mess.

  1. I was just looking for more Christian blogs to follow as I am new to WordPress, but this is a bit distasteful here. Adam is just as much to blame as Eve for agreeing to sin with her. To place too much blame on Eve conveniently removes blame from Adam, which isn’t right. We are all humans, we are all sinful, women are not more to blame than us men are. We both chose sin, together. The work that both men and women do takes its toll. I find your attitude in this post and the attitude of Christ to be something of a juxtaposition; I’m sure you love your wife, but you must have mercy for women when they tire. We tire too; work is hard, whether it’s in the office, on the site, or in the home, work wears us and we all have varying abilities. To express one’s ailments is not to diminish another’s; we all deal with work, especially in this current economy. Many of these phrases that women say, “A woman’s work is never done,” for example, are often said in solidarity with other women while they endure problems that are unique to them. To put them down for this is only adding to the unique problems that they face. Of course, men face their own unique problems, too, which is why we must strive to have empathy for each other rather than put each other down. We are stronger in Christ together, not divided. I would not want to raise daughters in a world where they are told, “Get over yourselves. You are not victims. You are the criminals.”

    1. I think you are missing some of my sense of humor that doesn’t come through when reading a written article. I actually blame Adam more than Eve as he is her federal head, and the Bible blames Adam as well. If you read in the New Testament, you can see that Paul talks about being in the first Adam, until Christ, the second Adam frees us. This specific article was to encourage Christian women to stop seeing themselves as perpetual victims. We are all punished under the curse of God. The general point I was making is, “…We have all broken God’s laws, and deserve death, and hell…” to quote my own article. The modern feminist movements, specifically the last 3 waves of it, has it’s roots in sinful rebellion, and has been making up little emotional quips for decades now to manipulate women into feeling like victims. Even Christian women have succumbed to these lies. A man’s life is no walk in the park either. We shouldn’t be arguing about how bad we have it. We deserve much worse. We should be serving in our God ordained roles, and doing so out of love, and reverence for Jesus, and each other. I did raise my sons, and daughters to not think themselves victims. As sinners we deserve death, and hell. That is what makes God’s grace so amazing. It is what makes His work on the cross so amazing. I have mercy for my tired wife, just like she has mercy for me, but we can’t sit on the pity-pot. That was my point. Christ was the real victim of our sin, not us. He who knew no sin, became sin on our behalf. He took our punishment on the cross. We should humble ourselves, and accept the work, the vocation, that God has ordained for us to do from before time.

      Ephesians 2:10
      (LSB)”For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”

      When I was young, and didn’t want to get up at 4 a.m. to go get firewood, my dad would tell me, “pull yourself up by your bootstraps.” I thought about what he said one morning, and it made sense. I have to find the motivation, and do the work. Nobody can do it for me. This was pretty profound to a 10 year old. I had to change my attitude toward work. Later, when I became a Christian, I read the Bible, and saw the curse on man,

      Genesis 3:17-19
      (LSB)
      “Cursed is the ground because of you;
      In pain you will eat of it
      All the days of your life.
      18 Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you;
      And you will eat the plants of the field;
      19 By the sweat of your face
      You will eat bread,
      Till you return to the ground,
      Because from it you were taken;
      For you are dust,
      And to dust you shall return.””

      Since people have been ignoring their vocations, and the God ordained roles of men and women, we end up where we are today. Everyone sees themselves as a victim, and their is a contest to see who has the most identity politics points. We do this while ignoring the reason God cursed the creation. I understand your contentions. Understand my main point. We are all sinners. We do need to get over ourselves. We are not the victims. We are the criminals. Otherwise Christ would not have had to suffer, and die, on the cross. We have to learn to be content in little and much as Paul said. Whining, and crying, about our work is something immature people do. Sure, humanly it seems it is ok to have a moment when you are feeling overcome, and exhausted, but it really isn’t. It is a sin to complain about how God has provided for us. We have to be more like Jesus. He didn’t complain, even when He paid the price for my state as a whiner, and complainer. God’s providence is the best for us, even if we suffer. Often times we see that it was exactly what we needed to mature in the faith.
